HOW TO USE CLIENT TESTIMONIALS

client testimonials on website

Client testimonials are marketing gold for your business!

Potential clients trust the honest opinions of your current and past customers much more than your marketing content or sales reps. In fact, 85% of people trust online reviews as much as recommendations from friends and family. Reviews are a powerful form of word-of-mouth marketing.

But what do you do with these reviews once you’ve got them?

First, save them! Start a document to keep copies of the testimonials you receive. Set up notifications for Google and Yelp. When you get a new review, respond to it and then save the review in your document. Follow a similar process if someone emails you or offers a kind word on social media.

Then, the world is your oyster! Here are five ways you can use these reviews in your marketing:

  1. Put them on your website. Whether you dedicate one whole page to client testimonials or you sprinkle a few of them in different sections of the site, your website is the top place to feature them. In fact, websites with testimonials see an increase in traffic of about 45%.

  2. Use them on social media. Create a branded text-based template that you can use to post reviews on social media. If it’s a long review, include just a sentence or two in the graphic and then the rest in the caption. If your client offers to do a video testimonial, take them up on their offer! Video is even more powerful.

  3. Include testimonials in your email newsletters. A good review provides you with a good reason to tell a story - what happened during this project, transaction, or sale that was noteworthy? What problem did you solve and how did it feel to bring someone joy? You can also just keep it simple and just start or end your newsletter with a short quote from a recent review.

  4. Add them to tags or product packaging. Some people are gifted writers and their reviews reflect that. If someone wrote a phrase or sentence that really resonates with you, consider adding it to some of your packaging for a season, or maybe even permanently!

  5. End your emails with a five star review. Adding a testimonial to your email signature could be the perfect place to catch people’s attention and keep you memorable.
