Squarespace recently released their roundup of 2025 Web Design Trends. This report is one RB Collaborative and our fellow Squarespace website designers look forward to each year to inspire new approaches to client projects. While the Minimalist Revival trend of 2024 may still be our favorite, this year’s designs also have staying power… mostly.

Here’s our take on Squarespace’s top five web design trends for 2025:

Organic Matter — YES
RB Collaborative often works with nonprofit organizations in the conservation space, so we’re giving Organic Matter a resounding YES. This trend’s strong connection to nature, organic shapes and textures, and use of nature-inspired color palettes speaks well to what many of our clients are looking for. We particularly love the use of color overlays to create a cohesive look and strengthen brand identity. This comes in handy when photo colors and styles may vary greatly across a website.

Just My Type — Maybe
Minimalism is our thing at RB Collaborative, however we understand — and love — incorporating bold fonts that can enhance a design. This trend based on expressive, character-driven typography can be tricky though. Website accessibility is essential. Various typefaces and font treatments can make it difficult for individuals with visual impairments to process, so it is critical to ensure your overall website design offers an optimal user experience for everyone.

PS — Squarespace offers two font options, one for headings and one for paragraph styles. But there is an easy and code-free hack to get a third font on your website. Check it out.

Visual Smiles — No
Now don’t mistake our take on this trend as total dislike. It’s cute, fun, and very colorful. But the question is, does this design have staying power? It’s very specific and unless this level of boldness and use of color aligns with your business, it’s not for you. Instead, consider which elements may enhance the visual storytelling of your website without clashing with your brand identity.

Vivid Glow — No
Again, this design is VERY cool, but it’s super specific. We appreciate the vibrancy and energy this design inspires, but as the template example currently stands, we see some accessibility issues with the layout and color contrast. Instead, consider how you may reimagine this type of movement, the color treatments, and clean use of brand photography on your own website.

Sketchbook — Yes
Having worked with creatives and nonprofit organizations that promote the arts, the Sketchbook trend for 2025 has the potential to inspire and form an emotional connection with users. We love this design for its authenticity in the ways it uses art and vibrant colors against a neutral background, and how it pairs native Squarespace elements with illustrations to create a totally unique and approachable design.

A Note On Trends
Squarespace’s trends are meant to inspire, not dictate the direction of website design projects. We love this web builder for its ability to create an attractive, informative, and engaging online presence. Trends vary greatly from year-to-year. That’s why they’re called trends, after all! It would be totally unreasonable to suggest that you redesign your website to be on trend. Rather, we would suggest you look at these templates to see which elements speak to you, how the movement and placement can aid in visual storytelling, and what would best complement your brand.
